Please join us for the final Marine Sciences Seminar of the fall series (November 16) at 4pm. Our speaker will be Dr. John Walter from the NOAA Southeast Fisheries Science Center in Miami. The title of Dr. Walter's seminar will be "Spatial statistical applications for natural resource assessment". For those on MMC, the seminar will be transmitted polycom to ACH-1 Rm 216.

Ken Nedimyer, president of The Coral Restoration Foundation , will give a talk entitled "Yes We Can: Growing Coral, Replanting Reefs, Making a Difference". Ken is known for producing rousing presentations that charge up the audience to rush out to save the coral reefs! Immediately following the seminar we will have a get-together with Ken Nedimyer and free food.

Mangrove Work Days

As part of an ongoing mangrove restoration project, the School of Environment, Arts and Society will be holding Mangrove Work Days in order to track the mangroves’ progress. Work Days will consist of data collection on the growth rates of the mangrove seedlings housed in FIU’s shared greenhouse. Be sure to bring a water bottle and wear working clothes that can get dirty.
